If hunting dinosaurs and bringing them to their death is your thing, then these dinosaur hunting games are the Apps for you. All of the Apps reviewed are free, and while it’s possible to fully enjoy them this way, there are in-App purchases that can further enrich your experience if you desire.
Just be forewarned that like with the Dinosaur Park Building Apps, these games have most definitely not kept up with important developments in dinosaurology, rather should be treated as fantasy worlds, full of dinosauresque fantasy creatures. That said, I can already feel Brian and other dinomaniacs cringing.
The graphics in this App are amazing, but it also contains the highest level of violence and vivid gore. You will choose and arm your weapon and be given a mission to kill an assigned dinosaur. You will immediately be immersed in a beautiful dinosaur setting with your mission kill heading straight toward you.
Pop-up tutorials will help you through the first mission. You can move to the left or right and zoom in on your target to get the most accurate shot. Killing a dinosaur earns you money to upgrade your weapons for faster re-loading times between shots, more power, etc.
As you move through the game, the contract hunt missions become greater and you move through different lands. My only complaint with this game, besides that I don’t enjoy killing dinosaurs, is that I wish you were able to walk around and go looking for the dinosaurs. That would be far more adventurous!
Drive a jeep or walk around as you hunt for dinosaurs. On the opening page, I recommend clicking on the arrow pointing to the right and scrolling all the way down for the list of controls on how to move about the game. I thought this was just the settings page when I first played and so didn’t see the instructions. This made playing very difficult for me at first!
There is a map to check in with as you drive along that shows you where you are and the location of the dinosaur you are hunting. You also have the option to get out and walk around. Moving along is not easy as the virtual controls are really sensitive. My jeep was all over the place, but I’m not great at any driving games. The scenery comes together as you drive, so you see trees being put into place and mountains growing.
When the dinosaurs come they are really fast, so with my hilarious lack of movement control, I was never able to successfully kill one within this App!
This App is similar to Dino Hunter. The graphics are definitely not as good, but you can choose between two modes: Hunt or Survive. In Hunt mode you have the ability to walk around the terrain. You move rather quickly until you pull you gun out, then your pace slows right down.
You will just come across dinosaurs wandering around or flying and sometimes being playful in their environments. Binocular mode will give you some basic info about the dinosaur you are looking at. There is a map which shows you moving dots to represent the dinos on the move should you wish to plan out your trek. Before you go hunting you have the option to select your weapon and gear.
Survive mode is pretty similar to all of this, only you stand still and the dinosaurs come towards you. You have to be quick!
Good luck to you in all of this. May you get them before they get you!
